Weather detection and avoidance systems include:
- Rain echo attenuation compensation capability - Altitude compensated tilt - Turbulence detection - Ground map for terrain mapping - 2.5 mile to 300 mile range display - Target alert - Sector scan - Lightning sensors to detect lightning activity in the region around the aircraft and determine the bearing and range of the strikes. This information can be displayed on EFIS or a radar indicator. - Specialist Search and Rescue (SAR) radar systems with surveillance and search modes integrated with colour weather radar. - Specialist systems, not only for helicopters in offshore service and SAR, but for any aircraft engaged in maritime surveillance, enforcement, medi-vac, or corporate transport. - Multifunction radar displays (MFRD) combining weather radar, lightning, traffic, terrain, navigation map and other data into a single, space-saving display instrument.
